Professional mentoring is designed to support mindfulness teachers with the practical and business aspects of their work. It offers dedicated space to explore the realities of sustaining a teaching role, particularly where teachers are self employed, running their own practice, or holding responsibility for business related aspects of teaching within an organisation.
This mentoring focuses on areas such as marketing and communication, budgeting and financial planning, promotion and outreach, pricing and boundaries, and navigating the practical challenges of building a sustainable teaching practice. It is intended to support reflection, decision making, and confidence in the business elements of teaching, rather than the teaching itself.
Professional mentoring is not a replacement for supervision and does not focus on teaching content, delivery, or clinical or ethical issues arising in teaching practice. Instead, it complements existing supervision by providing space to consider the wider professional context in which teaching takes place.
In this application form, you will be asked to briefly outline your current professional context and the areas you would like mentoring to support. This helps us to allocate you to a mentor with relevant experience and understanding of your situation.
Once your application is received, it will be reviewed and you will be allocated a mentor, who will then contact you to arrange your first session. We initially offer three sessions. The first session focuses on clarifying your current context, priorities, and any specific challenges you are facing in relation to the business aspects of your work. The remaining two sessions provide space to explore these areas in more depth and to consider practical next steps. If you later decide that additional sessions would be helpful, these can be arranged.
