Many health conditions can impact an ability to breathe properly, whether directly through lung disease, or indirectly through habits that may inhibit breathing when in pain or discomfort.
Founder of Mindfulness-based Pain & Illness Management Vidyamala Burch will talk through alternative ‘anchors’ that can be used effectively in meditation. As well as looking at other sense-based anchors available to us, Vidyamala will suggest creative ways that we can engage with breathing that will help to create ease and stability.
The physiology of breathing will be explored to present informative ways that breathing can be optimised so that you are working with it, rather than against it, when normal breathing patterns are disrupted in one way or another.
