Professor Mark Williams and Dr Danny Penman will join us to celebrate the launch of a refreshed edition of their book (Finding Peace in a Frantic World) and to mark 15-years since first publication. Mark and Danny will tell us why they think mindfulness is effective for treating mental and physical ill-health and discuss why the practice of mindfulness has suddenly become a mainstream phenomenon. They will also discuss how mindfulness can help us navigate troubling times with a sense of hope, anticipation and even vigour.
The evening will commence with a short opening talk from Chris Ruane, former Member of Parliament for the United Kingdom, who has played a leading role in introducing mindfulness into political life and to parliaments across the world.
The evening will be hosted by Claire Kelly, Director of Teaching and Training at Oxford Mindfulness, and the authors will also answer questions from the audience.
Arrive by 18:15 for registration and 18:30 start. The talk will last approx one hour. Mark and Danny will join us afterwards to sign copies of the book - tea and coffee will be served after the talk.
The Oxford Mindfulness Foundation is supporting this event. The fee covers the venue costs and a copy of the refreshed edition of the Finding Peace in a Frantic World book.
