OMC Mindfulness Retreat for Mindfulness Teachers and Teacher-Trainees - In-Person (MSt 891)
Date: 13/05/2022 - 19/05/2022
Location: Sharpham
Friday 13th May [from 6pm] to Thursday 19th May [ends at 10.30am] Led by Prof Rebecca Crane and Chris Cullen
In this retreat, we will draw from, and build on, practices familiar to those who have trained or are training to teach mindfulness courses such as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. We will also be reflecting on perspectives and frameworks offered by Buddhist psychology with a particular focus on the Foundations of Mindfulness. Some of those attending will be students on Oxford University’s Masters course in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy.
There will be periods of sitting, walking and mindful movement practice with guidance and reflections, opportunities for informal practice, and meetings to explore first-person experience with the teaching team. The retreat will also include some optional interpersonal mindfulness practice to support us to bring compassionate awareness into the relational space, and to enable us to inquire into the teaching themes with the support of a co-meditator.
Sharpham House and Estate provide a very supportive and beautiful setting for mindfulness retreats. Overlooking the River Dart valley, Sharpham is about 15 minutes from Totnes, where there are regular mainline trains to and from London.
Accommodation at this retreat will be in single rooms, with some sharing of bathrooms with 1 - 2 other participants. We will be asking participants to take a Lateral Flow Test on the day of arrival and on day 4 of the retreat.
